No, I still haven't found it (the one that involves the Security Officer and Tycho searching for a way to revive Durandal with Jjaro tech). Nobody I've brought it up to has even heard of it, let alone been able to find it; while I really hope it hasn't fallen all the way down the Internet hole, a search going on this long without even the faintest hint of a lead is not a good sign.

My thoughts can be summed up thusly: "if that fic ain't gonna show itself, then maybe I should take a shot at its basic premise and write at least an outline."

It's late as I write this, and I don't have too many ideas at the moment (ex. would this AU story be based out of Inmortalitas or Prototype?), but I'd like to record it somewhere before it leaks out of my head. XD;

I got two seasonal pics done this year:

* Merry Xmas '20
* Winter Love

Happy holidays!

My attempt at making the normal Rozies has thus far not been successful, but I did manage to make a Duran-sheep!.. after accepting that my first attempt was too janky to salvage. Somehow, I was able to make an acceptable second sheep in about ten minutes.

He was made with DAS Modeling Clay and painted with acrylics (except for the face, which I drew with my fine-tip felt pens).

Finally getting around to trying out [personal profile] juzo_kun's terminal CSS. The following is a certain terminal from "The Slings and Arrows of Outrageous Fortune" (M2) with new art.

So, there was this Marathon scenario called Excalibur: Morgana's Revenge. It's probably the most well-known scenario not set in the Marathon universe, but in terms of accessibility, there are problems: Aleph One can't run the latest version, there are no complete playthroughs as of this writing (Cynon's looks like it covers a fair bit of ground, but the first six vids are missing), and the site's only accessible via Wayback Machine.

None of this stopped me from adding onto the cast, because that's what I do. :U Eventually I decided to try and spin them off into something that's in between EMR and Marathon rather than try to work them into EMR's actual plot (which I suspect is at least 50% Errand Boy Syndrome anyway); the following are my notes on the setting, characters, etc.

Alternate Title: "An Excuse to Compare Durandals Again"

This sort of branched off from a slightly heavier topic (that could be summed up as "Vince knows circular futility when he sees it and would take about five seconds of some uber-fundie yelling about how Durandal, and by extension all AIs, are soulless before punching them in the face"): as I've mentioned before here and there, Inm!Durandal is in a uniquely troubling existential position wrt: the question of how human AIs are--namely, he was literally human in a past life and chose to live as humans do to the point where he actively resists going back to cyberspace.

The stances that the other androids on the Rozinante take on this issue are as follows: "I haven't given it much thought but I don't mind if people see me that way" (Cortana, Charlie, Raz), "IDK, man" (the Sword Sisters), "of course we're artificial humans, here's a seven-page dissertation on the subject" (Haller), or "I will bluntly deny the possibility no matter how much evidence you fling at me" (Lysander). For the most part, Durandal usually goes to Vince first when he needs advice.

Things that would probably not help: getting stuck in a room with his counterparts who all largely reject the idea of being human. XD;

(Also: going off my account stats, this should be my 100th post here)

And I'm a bit short on ideas at the moment. XD; Any suggestions (that aren't super-complicated)? Note that I hope to include the S'pht, and maybe introduce a couple of new faces among them.

(I've also got a couple other ideas/WIPs, some of which are the 18+ variety. Let's see how well directly uploading those to DW will work...)

Thought about writing this earlier as a "before bed" thing, but was too tired to properly organize the post. It's "self-indulgent" because the other half of this crossover idea is the Ruby-Spears Megaman cartoon, and that side of things is gonna take some explanation. XD;

Anyone remember that thing I drew back in '17? Well, I returned to it recently:

* The main trio
* Sizable dump

(Something I didn't mention on dA: a while ago I came across one of several Christian webcomic artists, L*dyPep, who has several interesting fictional settings, most prominently a steampunk-based one...BUUUUT based on what kinds of friends she has, and her conspicuously mentioning "male/female couples" and no other kind of romance under her "will draw" section, I'm pretty sure that actually sharing any of my ideas with her would end in disaster. So I did my own, entirely separate steampunk thing to cope. :U)

Is it "let's highlight how Inm!Durandal is the black sheep of his own instances" time again? I think it is.

Some topics off the top of me head:

* Conflict with Tycho: Inm!Durandal is basically of two minds about Tycho, in that he REALLY doesn't like him but is also wracked with guilt over how Tycho ended up this way. Over time, his desire to put Tycho in his place diminishes. I wonder how many of the other Durandals would be understanding, and how many would advise Durandal to just pull the trigger already.

* His crew: I'm sure at least one other Durandal would have some commentary on the fact that Inm!Durandal's crew includes a literal Greek oracle, an ex-Dangi scientist, two young AIs who are effectively his daughters, and a cavewoman.

* Inm!Durandal's fear reflex is to either grab onto Vince (if he's available) or freeze up. Probably not shared among all his instances.

* Try as he might, he has a hard time holding back tears. At least one counterpart's knee-jerk response would be "having a literal body rather than an ancillary is no excuse", I bet...

* Someone makes the mistake of suggesting that some of Durandal's more "desirable" traits ended up with Cortana in this 'verse.

* Bonus adult shenanigans: there may be words about how Vince can screw Inm!Durandal into submission with relative ease.

As seen here. I actually made an account just to ask a few of my own.

Wherein I try and think of things to say about Marathon Prototype that aren't already mentioned in the linked pic.

Did you get a haircut, Durandal? )

Let's type out this thought experiment that I haven't gotten around to drawing before I forget that it crossed my mind in the first place. (Important note: to simplify things a bit, I'm using what's now the Omni Strain version of Joyeuse [the agender pink-haired one] rather than Inm!Joy and Preci.)

Something I write through the haze of "I should be in bed already": I offer anyone who wants a thought exercise to come up with their own vampire/servant duo (potentially followed by a witch and/or were-being). What are they like, how did they meet, which court does the vamp belong to (if any), etc.

Asking because I want to do some more vamp AU stuff (in addition to a million other things) and this might serve as inspiration. XD

Reading some more of Finishing the Fight by Red Mage 04 (Halo/Forgotten Realms crossover) inspired me to doodle some Halo stuff (regardless of how frustrating its armours are to draw) and gave me an idea for a different crossover, which I'm writing notes for here so that I don't forget them.

I may have cheated with the ending of Halo 3... )

I mentioned these on my old tumblog and on the Pfhorums, but didn't get much of a response, IIRC. I'm also currently at a loss for what else to talk about at the moment. XD;

All six are by Apeman and were posted to halo.bungie.org between January 2000 and September 2001. The first set is comprised of "Of Gods and Heroes", "Untitled", and "Untitled 2"; the second, "Bracelet of Gods", "The Mantled Wings of Angels", and"The Desperation of Dreams". The first set deals very heavily in speculative Marathon/Halo connections, and while the second is more rooted in actual H:CE, they were still written prior to its release, and some Marathon elements remain.

The last times I linked to these, I wanted to hold off discussion until other folks had commented, but I think this time I'll stick some of my thoughts under the cut to try and actually get discussion going. XD;

Spoilers? )

Also: if anyone wants to comb HBO/its forum archives for any speculative tidbits I might've missed, please share them here! (Even if I turn out to have already seen them, I'm always up for debate. XD)
general_radix: (reincarnation)
I've gone and revisited it with a somewhat different premise; visual aid for said new premise here, plus some more refined art here (it's just Durandal).

Also, lots 'o text:

So it's about time for me to try and sleep (messed-up schedule), and I'm trying to think of something to write about before then. I go through my tags and reread that Marathon/RvB crossover idea.

First coherent thought: The Rozies getting involved in some more shenanigans on the RvB side of things before they're able to return home--specifically, Vince trying to pass himself off as a merc native to this 'verse for whatever reason (mostly because it's easier than explaining the truth). Specifically a merc and not a Freelancer (most of the good Southern states were taken), a Red, or a Blue (their "debate" on which side he should pretend to join wore down his patience real fast); this also sees him swiping a whole different set of power armour, since he still associates the one he's got with his brief time as the Meta.

Second coherent thought: Vince's ruse gets him tangled up in the affairs of Felix and Locus. I'm not as familiar with these two as, saaaaay, Hokuto, but it's probably a safe bet that they'd quickly realize that Vince's cover story isn't adding up. However they decide to take advantage of this would not be fun for Vince.
general_radix: (reincarnation)
At least, a rough idea for one. More info via the link; the tl;dr version is that it's a not-quite-zombie-apoc AU.

If anyone would like to develop this further, I'd be interesting in hearing about it!
