Another AU??

At least, a rough idea for one. More info via the link; the tl;dr version is that it's a not-quite-zombie-apoc AU.

If anyone would like to develop this further, I'd be interesting in hearing about it!

Interesting!
I admit whenever I see these kind of apocalyptic settings my mind goes toward Myazaki's Nausicaa, are you familiar with it? The setting and technology level is completely different from your description, but the environmental disaster created by poking with biological weapons is there.
I'm curious to see more about this AU! I'll add something if/when I'll sprout some idea :)

At the moment I just mused about Leela and her disappereance... she might have created a clandestine laboratory for studying an antidote to the spores. Alex might be another rogue battleroid, and one of her chosen bodyguards?

I think that's a really Leela thing to do :D
She can defend herself pretty well, being and android, but having someone to keep an eye on things while she is working is better, her laboratory has to be quite advanced in technology and can fall in the eyes of raiders and scavengers... so she managed to get some rogue battleroid as guards (Alex, and maybe June and Marcus and...?)

I have a glorious desire to boot up my old Half Life games while seeing this pic and reading the description. Granted, head crabs aren't mushrooms but I still enjoy the idea of Strauss running a city much like Wallace Breen did in Half Life 2.

Ooh, Half-Life parallels might be fun to work with. :D And Vince would really enjoy tossing bioweapons around with a gravity gun, I bet...

I was curious about bioweapons and if you have some idea about the look. I'm between "human zombie fungus" and an Ohmu from Nausicaa.

(I liked the "the toxic jungle is actually the environmental reply to clean humans' pollution" trope, but maybe not suited to the setting due to the timeskips involved?)

Hm...the only concrete thing I have in mind at the moment is that they're mostly non-humanoid (and they're kinda Ohmu-like, coincidentally. XD); creature design isn't exactly my strong point, so if you wanna design some bioweapons or something, I'd be interested in seeing them! :)
