general_radixI only just now heard that LJ didn't start emptying out in earnest until last year and it had something to do with a TOS change (as it always does, it seems). So I looked it up and...gyeesh. On top of being extremely LGBT-phobic, because P*tin's Russia, it seems to have been designed to be as legally draconian as possible. And LJ is required to hand over your personal information if you step out of line.
Glad I never made an account there. Still, this makes me wonder--is there an "LJ-utils" program like for tumblr that'll allow people to back up journals that haven't been exported? Because if a lot of dusty old comms haven't been purged yet, I think it's only a matter of time.
