Huntsville Comic & Pop Culture Expo 2021
Apr. 10th, 2021 04:01 amDad, one of my sisters, and I went to this year's Huntsville comic con yesterday; the experience wasn't that different from last time (mostly a dealer showroom; lots of anti-plague rat precautions and guidelines), so I'll just go over the highlights:
* Some of the asking prices I saw for various things were ridiculous. No, I do not want to spend $60 of my $80 on a single Power Rangers Lightning Collection figure.
* Got an "excuse me, sir" from one of the vendors, which amused me. (Alas, the only Sailor Moon Funko Pop they had--and the only one I saw among the many Pops for sale--was Jupiter, which is already in my collection)
* Found what I thought were authentic Great Eastern Sailor Moon plushes (the old ones from the early '10s), until I took a closer look and realized that they were under-sized, used different material for the hair than my v1!Uranus, and sported much sloppier stitching in the face.
My haul: a Playmates Star Trek: TNG figure of Picard with that line's full range of articulation (some later figures lacked knee joints), Power Rangers Legacy Collection Jason (MMPR Red; found him for much less than mentioned above), an Ami Mizuno doll from 1994, a PokeCen Staryu plush, and a blind box of over 100 Pokemon cards. Not bad, though there was a ton more stuff that I'd really wished I had money for. XD;
