Let's talk about a thing I like that I haven't discussed much of instead of stressing over how our impeached Idiot-in-Chief is trying to burn the whole world down because he didn't get his way, AGAIN.

So, my introduction to the X-Men was the animated series, at an age where I didn't really understand any of the deeper themes but did know that I liked superheroes (which itself could've been less knowledge of what that genre was and more "they're kinda like Power Rangers"). I had a tape that has apparently vanished into the aether, several figures that weren't all based on the show, the Cartoon Maker program, and that 12" Storm doll that I only recently recovered from the basement (still missing parts of both outfits, though), along with the Marvel Creativity Center that gave me a glimpse of other Marvel comics and characters. Much later on, I'd acquire a (sadly gimped) copy of Marvel VS Capcom 2, where I had fun playing as Rogue.

(I also remember liking Spider-Man: TAS, but at the moment I haven't got much to say about that.)

Now, "my" X-Men will likely forever be the team as it existed in the show, with some extras. I was aware of the "newer" stuff growing up, but I was mostly neutral on Evolution and wasn't sold on the comparatively drab "all black leather all the time" look of the movies--though I still ended up reading a good deal of meta on both, since I was also lurking on LJ. (At least half of that meta was whinging about other writers' fics. Sigh.)

All this X-Men talk was sparked by the Marvel Legends line allowing me to assemble the team in the designs I care most about; more specifically, I was fortunate enough to grab the "Love Triangle Pack" at GameStop. XD Currently, I've got Cyclops, Wolverine, Jean Grey, Storm, Rogue, Jubilee, and Psylocke, plus the Phoenix version of Jean, Kitty Pryde, and '70s!Dazzler; currently waiting on Gambit.

Beast and Professor X are my highest priorities, though something tells me that I'm going to get Vintage!Iceman and maybe '80s!Dazzler before I can grab those two. XD; And probably some figure stands, because I would really like for Jean Grey and Storm to be able to float.

On the creative side of things, I've been musing on an Inm./X-Men crossover, because of course. (Well, returning to an older idea, at any rate) Possibly making some icons, too, though I'unno if I'll end up using them. XD;
