Mundane updates, 8/31/19
Aug. 31st, 2019 09:53 pm* So, the big thing that happened this week: we had a temporary dryer malfunction. As in, when one of my sisters used it, it gave off this burning smell and let off smoke.
Mom, Dad, and I cleaned out the laundry room that night so that the repair guy could access the dryer (as of this post, we haven't put anything back in yet); Dad was prepared to replace the thing outright if the results were "not sure if okay", but thankfully, it was just some lint getting where it shouldn't have and the dryer's fine now.
This is also the cleanest the laundry room's been in, like, a decade or so. Alas, there's this one stain on the linoleum that refused to come out no matter how much vinegar Dad scrubbed it with; must've fused to the floor.
Other things, in no particular chronological order:
* Finally got around to playing some Mass Effect. On the plus side, it looks like it holds up pretty well; on the downside, timed mission right near the end of the first chapter. Why, BioWare.
* I went back down to the basement very early this morning (messed up sleep schedule) and tried to clean a bit of it. See, it's been a borderline-unsalvageable mess for so long that every time I go down with intent to straighten it up a little, I can't think of where to start; this time I tried hitting the area around our Fisher-Price art table thing. End result: there is at least some clean space around it now (plus, one of the bins there had my elusive young Simba plush).
Still think that there's some aspects that can't be taken care of until and unless we get some more shelves down there. Besides the bins I mentioned on the last mundane update post, there's a bunch of bins containing old clothing stacked around the middle of the room, and those aren't going anywhere fast either.
* I think I'm slowly sliding back down the Halo Mega Construx rabbit hole; it started with me grabbing the 10th Anniversary version of Cortana (Halo CE and 2 grape flavour), and now I've got a bunch more for me Christmas stash.
Let's see... Carter-A259, Keyes, Dr. Halsey, Laskey, Roland, Let 'Volir, a generic Athlon and Mark IV, and that Warthog Run set with H3!Master Chief, Arbiter, and two Hunters. That last item was actually less expensive than getting the 10th Anniversary versions of Chief and Arby on Amazon together (over twenty friggin' bucks each at the moment), and apparently it's a good set to boot. :D
Hopefully next time I can go to Target or GameStop, they'll have some of the other 10th Anniversary Halo Heroes knocking around. Like Didact, for whom Amazon wants nearly FORTY FRIGGIN' MONEY-DOLLARS.
* Tangential thing: nobody has Halo Heroes Sgt. Johnson for anything approaching a reasonable price, when they have him/any of Series 5 at all. Grumble curse mutter.

Date: 2019-09-02 02:59 am (UTC)Yay for Mass Effect! The first game is a bit buggy for a RPG but the story, the lore, and the characters are worth it. I'll bet you'll really enjoy yourself once you get into Mass Effect 2! ^_^
Hee! Come join the mega construx dark side! We got cookies!
Well... actually I don't have cookies but at least I do have the Arbiter, Master Chief, and Cortana! Yeesh... forty bucks for the Didact? How did that happen?
Good luck on finding Sgt. Johnson! I'm on the hunt as well for pair of Halo Hunters as well as Destiny's Ikora Rey.

No idea, honestly; I guess all the cheaper offers got snagged ages ago. >.<
Thanks (and good luck finding what you're after)!
