Regarding y!gallery

general_radixUp until yesterday, I was a member of the y!gallery discord. There's a reason I'm not anymore, and it largely boils down to transphobia and how the future 2.0 site will handle art of trans men. I feel that anyone here who might've been considering going to y!gallery deserves to know this.
So not too long ago, someone on the server ran a poll on what to do about art of trans men, presumably in part because y!gallery 2.0 carried over the 1.0 rule of "no boobs or vag"--something that could get ugly if your character was a trans man who had one or both of these. Poll-starter was strongly in favour of option A, "just let people post art of trans men on the main site".
Now, the sensible answer would be "yes, trans MEN belong on a site devoted to MEN and MALE/MALE romance"...you'd think.
I came in too late to share my own thoughts, but basically what I saw was a shitstorm. Lots of people going "eeeewwww, VAGINAS!", complaining about not wanting to see "trans content" while browsing the site, and at least one dipshit calling poll-starter a "snowflake".
Oooooh dear.
Ultimately, the mods decided that art of trans men (who, again, are MEN on a site devoted to MEN) would go on y!aux, the planned "other stuff" section of the site; one reason they gave for this was that if they didn't, people would start sneaking in art of women (who aren't trans men). Someone who wasn't a mod chimed in that shuffling art of trans men off to the side was somehow "less exclusionary/more inclusive" than just letting people post it to the normal site, under the assumption that "everyone" would filter it out by default (I guess, since the commenter doesn't want to look at trans men while browsing for slash and would only like it if they specifically searched for it on y!aux).
It's "more inclusive" to shunt art of trans men into a section of the site which will include subjects that are not men.
You know what two of those "aux" subjects will be? Pedoshit and guro. Anyone who tries looking for art of trans men, furry dudes, or F/F is either gonna have to filter that out (which, for many, won't alleviate the stress of it being there at all) or wade through nasty shit. But hey, at least no one on the main site will have to look at "vaginas", right? (Oh, and I don't remember NEARLY as much complaining from hopeful future members about y!gallery still allowing pedoshit. PRIORITIES!)
...I'd been contemplating ditching the server for a while before this, mostly due to not really fitting in, and the creeping feeling that it was actually kinda toxic. All the more painful, as I was looking forward to y!galler's return. After discussing the announcement in another server, Emma advised me to leave already, so I did.
tl;dr Don't bother with y!gallery. If I really need a place to post non-furry-or-fantastical 18+ art, I'll try Waterfall.

I say, enjoy the content. And ignore the assholes. (Well... The people who are acting like assholes. Not the actual assholes. Which is why you are viewing the page in the first place... and... I'm gonna go hide now...)
