Cool idea! Inm!Durandal looks quite in character as a vampire. And "Is there anything I should know?" should be rule n°1 when dealing with Durandal (any version)!
Hee! Giving Durandal the Necronomicon is not a good idea! Given his track record of summoning unwanted aliens... Summoning an eldritch alien horror is right up that alley... ^_^
I have to admit seeing Caliban coiled around Tycho gives me the creeps. Don't get me wrong, I like snakes, but Caliban comes off as one of those backstabbing kinda guys. Whispering evil plans into Tycho's ear and should Tycho refuse to do as Caliban says, he'll poison or strangle Tycho.
I hope you're wrist and hand get better! ^_^ Take good care of them and keep them warm in this winter.
(...I was musing at what the history behind Alex could be, and I had much fun of thinking at him being a werebear -- on which Strauss performed strange experiments/rituals. Could this detail be compatible with the setting? Otherwise I'll think at something else.)
(Nice. XD Technically the only supernatural entities here are vampires, for the sake of keeping things relatively uncomplicated/uncrowded, but it's definitely not out of the realm of possibility for Strauss to try and create were-beings to help him deal with the vampire scourge [and also take over Mars]! Also, I'm now imagining Durandal petting bear!Alex. XD)
I thought at Strauss trying to give the blood magic to some guy he intend to brainwash, and he went for a werebear because they are sturdy enough to survive the ritual and also deal with vampires (standard were-beings usually stays outside feuds).
What he found himself with was a werebear that cannot transform voluntarily anymore and has a botched version of the blood magic Strauss managed to get while studying Durandal (but Alex needs a token to activate it and he can't reasorb his blood, so he has to be really cautious and use it really sparingly).
Alex has a lot of his memories wiped but is still not brainwashed; he managed to escape from Strauss captivity, but has only some vague recollection of what happened. He's quite a mess! But I was wondering if this kind of mess might be non-compatible with your ideas/setting/storyline...
It all sounds good to me! :D (Like, whether or not were-entities do end up being hinted at/showing up canonically, I think werebear!Alex makes a pretty good contrast to normal-servant Vince [well, it's not normal for servants to become stronger than the vamp that sired them, but you know]. And, well, there's gotta be something out there that's naturally capable of preying on vamps...)

Date: 2019-01-26 08:13 am (UTC)I doubt Caliban would backstab Tycho, but he is most definitely not a good influence. XD;; (Poisoning/strangling other people is fine by him, though)
They have by now, hopefully! ^^
