JK!Durandal would be rather incredulous about one thing: the fact that the android vessel isn't a projection or an ancillary, but the new main core of Inm!Durandal.

After a bit of boggling he would he could come at an understanding (after pestering Alex every five minutes with melodramatic "HOW HE COULD" "BUT WHY" "HUMANS ARE SO BELOW US, WHY") because, well, they both are the same sentience, even if they developed in different ways.

But the only thing JK!Durandal won't let pass is... "couldn't you get a taller android vessel??"

Inm!Durandal gets to explain how cold and lonely cyberspace was, and how making the jump allowed him to live alongside Vince and not just off and to the side of him. XD Which probably goes further into all of the advantages and unique sensory experiences of the physical plane, even if there's a few trade-offs (i.e. no longer being the omnipotent lord of the ship).

I've a feeling JK!Durandal would still be incredibly resistant. XD; (At that point Inm!Durandal might ask "isn't there someone among your own crew that you lo--" and then realize he said too much and flee)

Your feeling is correct! And also the following scene :D :D

The relationship between Alex and Durandal is more on the platonic side, but Durandal developed a certain possessiveness[sp?] about his bodyguard/security officer/distributor of explosions. And a bit of respect, too. Of course he won't say that explicitly, might the aforementioned bodyguard became too swollen-headed.

I already have the idea of JK!Durandal human avatar, he finally got one ...because you can't even trust humans too much as he says, expecially on diplomatic missions and the like. (Just having to choose among the 72484 sketches.) But in his case it will be something like a solid holographic projection, and you can bet he will copiously and vociferously grumble about having to confine one of his many subroutines to the puny physical and sensorial range of a human :D

He caaaares about his human crew. He just won't be caught dead about confessing this.

Durandal could feel his blades involuntary twitch. Just how many different timelines were there? And just how many different Durandals were there?

The first Durandal, the Inm Durandal Unit as Almace quaintly put it, had chosen to cut off all of his growth that Rampancy allowed by placing his core in a small human frame.

Purposely limiting the amount of memory he could obtain and access to machinery, it was obvious that the Inm Durandal had wanted to mutilated himself. But for what reason? Guilt? Fear of power?

The explanation of cold lonely cyberspace may work... If it weren't for the fact the S'pht were cheerfully broadcasting on all the multiple universes. One of the reason's Durandal was actually willing to meet/possibly trust these other Durandals was because of how happy the S'pht were.

So... was it because he could share a bed with the Security Officer? It did have it's advantages. More often then not, Durandal's own humans will drag his android form into the recreational room and puppy pile on him during movie night.

But the android Durandal used, the android that Almace help cobble together, couldn't feel things. Not like a human can. Could the Inm Durandal feel like a human? And... more importantly... Is it worth giving up so much just to be able to touch?

DitS Durandal taps the terminal with one of his digital swords, but does not dare breach the firewall. This new EA Durandal was much more volatile and it set DitS Durandal on edge.

He kept a careful eye on his humans. The last thing he needed was to have this EA Durandal attack them.

When the terminal responded to the digital sword tap with a terse "What?" DitS Durandal sent the message.

"Have you never heard of concubines? I imagine that any self respecting god would keep a harem."

DitS just nods while watching the scene before them. "I feel you. I don't understand why Inm Durandal would limit himself like that either."

Then they secretly bro-fist and never speak of it again.

(Related idea: Inm!Durandal actually being legit upset, for whatever reason, that DitS!Durandal can't feel anything--possibly leading to the above consideration?)

It's an interesting proposition. DitS knows that humans feel on a totally different level than he does. His chip was in their heads for a brief time in Marathon Infinity so he knows a little about how it works.

The android has sensors for heat, it has cameras, microphones, and sensors to test the air for chemicals. In a way DitS Durandal can see, hear, smell, and feel heat like a human but it's different. He processes that feedback in numbers not with chemicals and a nervous system. So Inm Durandal would be a bit alien to him like the humans are.

I think DitS Durandal would want to touch. Would like to experience the pleasure of smelling good things, tasting good food, and (of course) sexual simulation as well. But is it worth feeling pain? Feeling exhaustion?

Inm Durandal is braver than DitS Durandal in that respect. DitS Durandal experienced a slice of humanity when his chip was plugged into a Battleroid during a warzone, full of pain, death, and torture. DitS Durandal doesn't really want to experience that again. No matter how tempting the good stuff is.

Interesting idea, I didn't consider this specific case. I was more on the general "ugh, humans are so gross" sentiment, but this one is a really specific detail that could send Durandal say "thanks, but no thanks."
