New monitor?

Long story short, my old Trinitron that I've had since the mid-00s might be starting to crap out (it still works fine for the most part, but upon turning it back on while the computer's coming out of sleep mode, the screen wavers yellow for a bit, and that's not a good sign). So I'm most likely going to switch to the flatscreen I'm using right now.

Some immediately-observable advantages: it's a bit wider, and I can see darker colours without having to crank up the brightness. Current downside: nowhere yet to put my speakers except on the desk.

Oh, dear. :/ I hope the flatscreen ends up working well! The darker colors part definitely sounds like a perk.
